1. dissertation guidance
- Master's degree program
- Applicants who wish to submit a dissertation for a master's degree must receive dissertation guidance at least 3 times within 2 years of the academic year. However, if you do not receive your degree within the term of study, you must receive additional dissertation guidance during the dissertation submission semester. Also, dissertation guidance can be replaced with dissertation guidance credits or research credits.
- The dissertation guidance application form must be submitted within the course registration period at the beginning of each semester.
- If you want to change your advisor due to unavoidable circumstances, you must obtain the consent of the advisor and permission from the dean of the graduate school.
- Doctoral degree program
- Applicants who wish to submit a doctoral dissertation must receive dissertation guidance at least 5 times (3 times for the Department of Medicine, Medical Science, and Pharmacy) within 3 years of study period (2 years for the Department of Medicine, Medical Science and Pharmacy). However, if you do not receive your degree within the academic year, you must receive additional dissertation guidance during the dissertation submission semester. In addition, dissertation guidance is replaced with dissertation guidance credits or research credits.
- The dissertation guidance application form must be submitted within the course registration period at the beginning of each semester.

- Integrated Master's and Doctorate Course
- Applicants who wish to submit a doctoral dissertation must receive dissertation guidance at least 7 times (5 times for the Department of Medicine, Medical Science, and Pharmacy) within 4 years (3 years for the Department of Medicine, Medical Science, and Pharmacy). However, if you do not receive your degree within the academic year, you must receive additional dissertation guidance during the dissertation submission semester. In addition, dissertation guidance is replaced with dissertation guidance credits or research credits.

2. dissertation Advisor
- In principle, the dissertation advisor for the master's degree program is a full-time professor, but a full-time professor or a non-full-time professor may provide joint guidance if necessary. In the case of a doctoral degree program, in principle, a full-time professor or full-time professor with a doctoral degree can provide joint guidance with two non-full-time professors with a doctoral degree if necessary. However, non-full-time professors approved by the Graduate School Committee may also provide dissertation guidance.
- The selection of the dissertation advisor is approved by the dean of the graduate school through the department faculty meeting upon the application of the freshman in the first semester. (Revised 2012.05.25.)
- The appointed advisor should regularly guide writing the dissertation and submit a dissertation guidance report to the graduate school dean at the end of the semester.
- In principle, the number of dissertation advisors that can supervise should be no more than 6 per master's or doctoral degree program. However, depending on the department's circumstances, the number of advisors may be adjusted with the permission of the head of the department.
3. Application for dissertation guidance
- Those who wish to receive dissertation guidance must submit a dissertation guidance fee and application for dissertation guidance within a predetermined period at the beginning of the semester to obtain approval from the president.
4. Submission of research plan for degree claim dissertation
- Students who wish to write a dissertation requesting a degree must openly present their research dissertation plan in the presence of the head of the department, department professors, and a large number of researchers related to their major under the supervision of their advisor, and the subject of the dissertation and the validity of the research method, the expected research results should be verified.
- The deadline for submitting the research plan in Paragraph 1 above is 1 semester before, and 1 year before for the doctoral degree based on the submission date of the dissertation.
5. Qualification of dissertation submission

- Master's degree program
- Those who have completed registration for more than 4 semesters (3 semesters for undergraduate/master’s courses)
- Those who have passed the foreign language test and the comprehensive test
- Students who have completed 24 or more credits, including course registration credits for the semester and have GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Applicants within 6 years of admission (excluding leaves of absence)
- Those who have received dissertation guidance more than 3 times. (However, graduate students from the Department of Medicine, Medical Science and Pharmacy can be recognized with research credits (3 credits) instead) (Revised 2014.11.18.)
- Doctoral program
- Those who have completed registration for more than 6 semesters (However, those who have registered for more than 4 semesters in the Department of Medicine, Korean Medicine, Medical Science and Pharmacy) (Revised 2013.10.30.)
- Those who have passed the foreign language test and the comprehensive test
- Applicants who have completed 36 credits or more, including course registration credits, and have GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Applicants within 10 years after admission (excluding leave of absence)
- Those who have received dissertation guidance more than 5 times. However, those who have received dissertation guidance more than 3 times in the Department of Medicine, Koran Medicine, Medical Science and Pharmacy (However, the medical, medical science, pharmacy, and health departments can be recognized with research credits (6 credits) (Revised 2013.10.30., 2014.11.18.)
- Integrated Master's and Doctorate Course
- Those who have completed registration for more than 8 semesters, but in the case of Department of Pharmacy, those who have completed registration for more than 6 semesters.
- Those who have passed the foreign language test and the comprehensive test
- Students who have completed 54 credits or more, including course registration credits, and have GPA 3.0 or higher
- Applicants within 12 years after admission (excluding leave of absence)
- Those who have received dissertation guidance more than 7 times. However, those who have received dissertation guidance more than 5 times in the Department of Pharmacy (However, research credits (9 credits) can be substituted for the Department of Medicine, Medical Science and Pharmacy) (Revised 2014.11.18.)
- Applicants who have elapsed the deadline for submitting a dissertation for a degree may extend the deadline for one year only once with the permission of the dean of the graduate school (Newly established 2014.11.18.)

6. Preliminary Announcement
- Applicants who wish to submit a dissertation must make a preliminary presentation of the dissertation request 3 months before the dissertation submission in the presence of the department head professor, department professor, and a number of researchers related to the major field under the responsibility of the advisor
- The contents of the preliminary presentation must be consistent with the research plan for the dissertation requesting degree.
- Preliminary presentations by department are conducted under the responsibility of the head professor, and the presenter's research attitude, the validity of the dissertation topic, and the research method are strictly evaluated, and matters necessary for correction and supplementation are reviewed.
7. Application for dissertation
- Applicants who wish to submit a dissertation must submit the following documents to the dean of the graduate school within the prescribed deadline along with the prescribed dissertation review fee.

8. Time to submit dissertation
- The deadline for submitting the dissertation is the end of April and the end of October.
9. System and standards of dissertation
- In principle, the dissertation must be written in Korean, but it can be written in a foreign language when the advisor has approved it, and the guidelines for writing the dissertation must be followed.
10. Organization of dissertation review committee
- The dissertation reviewers are appointed by the Dean of the Graduate School upon the recommendation of the head of the department.
- The dissertation reviewers for the master's degree shall be made up of three members, but in principle, two or more will be made up of full-time professors.
- The dissertation review committee for the doctoral degree shall be composed of 5 members, but two or more must be appointed by professors from other universities with a doctoral degree or a doctoral degree holder equivalent thereto. However, in the case of medical department, one professor from an external university or external research institute must be included among the five reviewers.
- Qualifications of the reviewers for master's and doctoral dissertation shall be in accordance with Article 13 (dissertation Advisor).
11. Chairman of the Review Committee
- The dean of the graduate school appoints one of the reviewers as the chairperson of the review committee.
- The dissertation review chairperson presides over the review process and reports the review results to the dean of the graduate school.
- The chairman of the review committee has the same authority as other reviewers in making decisions.
12. Replacement of reviewer is prohibited
- After the dissertation review has started, the reviewers cannot be replaced. However, only in cases where the reviewers cannot continue reviewing the dissertation due to illness, overseas business trip, or other unavoidable reasons, the dean of the graduate school may appoint other reviewer upon the recommendation of the head professor.
13. Review method
- The dissertation review is conducted separately from the preliminary review in writing and the main review, which is an oral review. The master degree shall be composed of 3 reviews while 5 reviews for doctoral degree.
- In principle, the preliminary review and main review as stipulated in Paragraph 1 shall be conducted at least once in the master's degree program, and at least one written review and oral review, and one written review and two or more oral reviews shall be conducted in the doctoral degree program.
- The graduate school dean will review the dissertation after announcing in advance the dissertation submitter's affiliation, name, dissertation title, and the date and place of review.
- The committee reviews the dissertation topic and the validity of the research method, research performance, research attitude, etc., and decide whether to accept or reject, but if correction or improvement is necessary, they must check the implementation status. However, if it is determined that corrections and supplements are not possible by the deadline for submitting the dissertation for the semester, the dissertation will be submitted in the next semester.
- The reviewers may request materials necessary for review from the author.
- If it is difficult to submit a dissertation within the deadline due to unavoidable circumstances, only the dissertation under review may be extended within one semester for the master's program and two semesters for the doctoral program with the permission of the dean of the graduate school.
14. Pass Criteria
- The written review and oral review evaluation are divided into A, B, and C and A and B are OK (Acceptable), and C is NG (Failure).
- Pass criteria is when more than two-thirds of the reviewers in the case of the master's degree program and more than four-fifths of the reviewers in the doctoral program evaluate it as OK (Acceptable).
15. Re-review
- If the dissertation is rejected in the review, the dissertation can be revised and supplemented, and re-examined after more than one semester.
16. Report on the results of review
- The reviewers must record the results of the dissertation review in the prescribed form and submit the results of the dissertation review to the chairperson of the review committee.
- The chairperson of the review shall synthesize the review results of each member, record the summary of the review in a prescribed form, make a pass or failure decision, and submit it to the dean of the graduate school within the prescribed deadline.
17. review period
- The dissertation review must be completed within the academic calendar period of the graduate school.
18. Dissertation Submission
- When the dissertation submitter receives a revision instruction from the reviewers, the dissertation must be printed after completing the revision and receiving confirmation.
- When the dissertation is printed, 7 copies of the dissertation must be submitted to the graduate school dean within the designated deadline, and all reviewers must seal 2 copies of which.
- Extension of the deadline for submitting the dissertation may be extended up to one year for each degree program with the permission of the dean of the graduate school.
19. Excellent dissertation award
- For excellent dissertations, awards can be given through a prescribed procedure and the resolution of the Graduate School Committee.
20. Degree Certificate
- Degree conferment is carried out by the degree certificate according to the attached Form 1 and Attached Form 2 of the Graduate School Regulations.
21. Degree Cancellation
- If a person who has received a doctoral degree has done any act that damages his/her honor, the President shall revoke the degree through the resolution of the graduate school committee and report it to the Minister of Education.
22. Announcement of dissertation
- In principle, the dissertation for the doctoral degree must be announced within one year from the date of acceptance.
