Foreign Language Test and Comprehensive Test
1. Qualifications
- Qualifications to take the foreign language test and the comprehensive test are as follows.
- Foreign language test
- Students who have completed the master's program, doctoral program, and integrated master's/doctoral program for more than one semester can take the foreign language test. (Revised 2012.05.25.)
- Comprehensive exam
- In the case of the master's degree program, students who have passed the foreign language test and have acquired 24 credits or more (GPA of 3.0 or more), or students whose total credits earned and credits for the current semester are 24 credits or more, can take the comprehensive exam.
- In the case of the doctoral program, students who have passed the foreign language test and have acquired at least 36 credits (GPA of 3.0 or higher), or the sum of credits earned and credits in the current semester, is 36 credits or more to take the comprehensive exam
- In the case of an integrated master's and doctoral course, students who have passed the foreign language test and have acquired at least 54 credits (with a GPA of 3.0 or higher), or students who acquired a total of 54 credits or more, plus the credits earned in the current semester, can take the comprehensive exam.
- If a student who is qualified to take the exam based on the total number of credits taken for the current semester among those taking the comprehensive exam fails the courses that he or she has applied for that semester, and his/her credits are low, his/her passing the comprehensive exam will be invalid.

- The exam subjects for each degree program are as follows.

- Foreign language test subjects in the master's program, doctoral program, and integrated master's and doctoral program are conducted in English. However, international students may substitute with Korean. (Revised 2012.05.25, 2013.03.01)

- For each degree, students who have obtained grades that are judged not to interfere with their studies in the accredited proficiency test (TOEFL, TOEIC, TEPS, IELTS, TOPIK, etc.) recognized by the dean of the graduate school may be exempted from the foreign language test (Revised 2012.03. 01)
- Comprehensive exam
- In the case of master's degree program students, two or more subjects, and doctoral degree program students and four or more subjects in combined master's and doctoral programs are conducted as a comprehensive review (Amended on May 25, 2012).
- The relevant department determines the subjects of the comprehensive review by its bylaws.

3. Application procedure
- Students who wish to take the Comprehensive review or Foreign Language Exam must submit an application form to the Dean of the Graduate School together with the prescribed application fee with the advisor's recommendation and approval from the head professor.
4. Test time
- Foreign language tests and comprehensive tests are conducted within 60 days of the beginning of each semester.
5. Questions and evaluation
- Questions and evaluations for foreign language exams and comprehensive exams are conducted by each member appointed by the graduate school dean among the full-time professors.
6. Acceptance Criteria
- The score of the foreign language test and the comprehensive test is 100 points in full for each subject.
7. Retest
- Those who fail the foreign language test can retake the test, and in the case of the comprehensive test, they can retake only the failed subjects.
