Gachon University Partners with Eight National Science High Schools to Nurture Future Entrepreneurs
Gachon University is joining forces with eight national science high schools for gifted students to cultivate future entrepreneurial talent.
On the 30th, Gachon University held a signing ceremony for a Business Agreement on Entrepreneurship Education (MOU) with eight science high schools at the Faculty Conference Room in Gachon Hall. Attendees included President Lee Gilya, as well as Kim Hyuk, Principal of Gyeonggi Science High School; Ko Joon-sang, Principal of Gwangju Science High School; Lee Yong-ho, Principal of Daegu Science High School; Lee Ji-young, Principal of Daejeon Science High School; Kim Seung-hwan, Principal of Sejong Academy of Science and Arts; Kim Tae-il, Principal of Seoul Science High School; Lee So-hyun, Principal of Incheon Academy of Science and Arts; and Choi Jong-bae, Principal of the Korea Science Academy of KAIST.
Before the signing ceremony, the principals met with President Lee Gilya at the AI Building for a discussion and toured Gachon Cocone School, which serves as an incubator for startup education, to explore Gachon University’s entrepreneurship training infrastructure.
Science high schools for gifted students are national strategic institutions that educate top talent in science, mathematics, and the arts, and are regarded as key training grounds for future leaders in science and technology. This agreement marks the first case in Korea where a university has taken the lead in forming a national entrepreneurship education partnership with all science high schools for gifted students, making it a significant milestone.
Through this partnership, Gachon University and the science high schools will jointly promote:
Entrepreneurship camps for gifted students
Educational content to strengthen entrepreneurial mindset and practical capabilities
Mentorship programs connecting students with startup experts and entrepreneurs
Industry field experiences at Pangyo Techno Valley
Special startup lectures for parents
In particular, next January, Gachon University will host a three-day, two-night “Entrepreneurship Talent Camp” for about 40 gifted students. Each participating school will send 4–5 students, who will experience creative problem-solving and entrepreneurship firsthand.

The Gachon Cocone School (GCS), part of Gachon University’s Startup College and organizer of the Entrepreneurship Talent Camp, has been running an innovative entrepreneurship curriculum since its launch in 2022 under the vision of “the first entrepreneurial transformation of our lives,” based on the NAIS principles (Human Nature, AI, and Social Value Transformation). Over the past three years, GCS has produced 166 graduates and achieved measurable results across government-supported projects, investment attraction, and revenue generation.
President Lee Gilya stated,
“The future society will be led by interdisciplinary talents who combine creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Building on Gachon University’s experience operating the Cocone School as a startup incubator, we will actively support students nationwide in taking on new challenges through entrepreneurship.”
Kim Tae-il, Principal of Seoul Science High School, commented,
“It is very meaningful that eight national science high schools have signed an entrepreneurship education agreement with Gachon University and will operate a variety of programs together. Through this agreement, we hope students will learn entrepreneurial spirit and, though starting from small seeds, grow into significant achievements in the future.”
