The Department of Dental Hygiene aims to nurture competent dental hygienists with the professionalism and leadership required by the future society by systematically and scientifically educating the principles and methods to improve the oral health of the people. Students have a competitive edge by experiencing field training by applying the field-based clinical practice protocol at the dental hospital of Gachon University’s Gil Hospital, which has the best facilities and medical staff. In addition, this department aims to develop students' autonomous and active abilities through oral health activities in connection with various community groups. We are working hard to build a professional career path. This department opened a master's program in dental hygiene at the Graduate School of Public Health in 2009 and opened a master's and doctoral program in dental hygiene at the general graduate school in 2016 to produce talented individuals with the expertise and information skills required for dental hygiene field. By doing so, we will be in a key position in the development of dental hygiene.

A person who desires to work as a dental hygienist is a person who has majored in dental hygiene in the 'Dental Hygiene Department' established at the university in accordance with Article 4 of the Act on Medical Technicians, etc, and shall pass the national dental hygiene examination and be granted with the license issued by the Minister of Health and Welfare.
After obtaining a dental hygienist license, graduates may work in various fields such as dental university hospitals, general hospital dentistry, dental hospitals, oral health departments of public health centers, school oral health departments, public health officials, health insurance-related institutions, oral hygiene products-related companies, universities and research institutes.
