College of Medicine
The foundation of Gachon University's College of Medicine is 'Lee Gil-Yeo Obstetrics & Gynecology,' founded in 1958 founded by Dr. Lee Gil-Yeo, established following volunteer medicine. Dr. Lee Gil-Yeo established 'Incheon Gil Hospital,' a medical corporation with the founding philosophy of 'philanthropy, service, and patriotism' in 1979, and the College of Medicine in 1998. College of medical science at Gachon University, based on the vision of a medical school that transcends limits and changes the world' and the founding ideology of 'philanthropy, service, and patriotism,’ develops medical capacity that realizes respect for life and contributes to the health care of the nation and society. It has a mission of 'nurturing professional medical professionals who contribute to and lead the world's medical development.'
Since established, the College of Medicine at Gachon University has been a pioneer by actively introducing the latest medical education courses. In addition, it opened a clinical skill center for the first time in Korea, took the lead in conducting integrated education between basic medicine and basic clinical practice, and introduced the PBL education method. An immersive medical research course was established so that medical students could experience research activities on their own. In addition, the rate of scholarship recipients and the rate of overseas dispatch of medical students are the highest in Korea.
The College of Medicine operates a medical education facility with a total floor area of 7,300 pyeong on 770 pyeong, 6 stories below the ground and 10 above, and is equipped with the latest basic clinical research facilities and clinical skill center. Through this, the medical school is doing its best to nurture excellent medical experts with a global mind in the 21st century.
