Gachon University (President, Lee Gil-Yeo) is a comprehensive university newly launched in 2012 by integrating four universities including Gachon Medicine College, Kyungwon University, Gachon Gil University, and Kyungwon College. It is the first time in Korea that four-year private universities are integrated. Gachon University operates a global campus in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, and medical campuses in Incheon, including medical, pharmacy, nursing, and health science colleges.
The 2021 academic year has 14 colleges, 8 divisions (20 majors), and 46 departments. As of April 2021, it is a large-scale university with 21,928 students (including 2,621 graduate school students).

Gachon University boasts of medical power with the College of Medical Science, College of Herb Medicine, College of Pharmacy, and College of Nursing. Gachon University created the first artificial intelligence (AI) major in Korea in 2020 to nurture talents who will lead the era of the 4th industrial revolution and greatly increased the number of recruits to 150 in the 2021 entrance exam. In addition, Gachon University established the first software college in Korea in 2002 and was selected as a software-oriented university in 2015, taking the lead in nurturing software professionals with global competitiveness. From 2016, SW education was made compulsory for all students, and the SW Passport (certification system) system was introduced in 2019. In 2021, it was selected as a SW-centered university phase 2 assignment and took the lead in nurturing talents with IT and SW capabilities.
Gachon University has established △Smart Factory Department △, Smart Security Engineering Department △Next-Generation Semiconductor Engineering Department △Smart City Convergence Department to foster talented people who lead the high-tech industry. In addition, it is taking the lead in educational innovation through ‘Ntree Camp’, a two-days no-night creative convergence program for freshmen, and ‘P(assignment)-flexible semester system’, an immersive assignment semester.

Gachon University is also achieving excellent results in various university evaluations. It was ranked 29th in the JoongAng Ilbo University Rankings in 2019. This is a jump of 43 places from 72nd in 2005. Indices in educational conditions and professor research have improved significantly, leading to an increase in the overall ranking, with the ratio of start-up education taking first place, 10th in the number of papers, and 12th in the CNCI ranking that evaluates the quality papers. In addition, it was ranked 23rd overall in the 2020 Korea Economic Sciences and Engineering University Rankings and 27th in the World University Academic Rankings announced by Shanghai Jiaotong University, Higher Education Institute. Based on these achievements, Gachon University is continuing its excellent performance, ranking third in the nation based on the number of applicants in the recent recruitment of new students for the 2021 academic year.

Gachon University completed the Vision Tower that connected the campus with the subway for the first time in Korea in 2010 and dramatically improved the campus educational environment with the opening of Gachon Hall in 2014. In 2017, a medical college building with state-of-the-art education and research environment was opened. The AI Center for professional artificial intelligence education and the 3rd dormitory for local and international students will be completed in February 2022. In addition, it is adjacent to Pangyo Techno Valley and Gangnam Tehran Valley and is actively conducting industry-university cooperation with high-tech IT companies.

Gachon University established the Hawaii Gachon Global Center in 2012 in the heart of Waikiki, Hawaii. The center has three floors above ground and is equipped with additional accommodation, a lounge, an outdoor swimming pool, and a PC LAB. Every year, about 300 students take English training and experience local culture in Hawaii for 4 to 15 weeks. To reduce the financial burden on students, the university provides tuition, dormitory fees, and round-trip airfare. In addition, it operates various international exchange programs with 203 universities in 33 countries, including the US, UK, China, Australia, and Canada.
